4.6 overs (2 Runs)
Good running! Delivers it on a hard length, outside off, Axar Patel opens the bat face and glides it to the right of backward point. By the time, the deep third fielder gets around, Axar turns around and dives to complete the second run.

4.5 overs (1 Run)
Almost dragged it onto the stumps! This is on a back of a length, around off, Rishabh Pant shapes up to play it square on the off side but the ball nips back in a touch and catches the inside edge. Luckily for Rishabh, it sneaks past the stumps and it rolls to short fine leg for one.

4.4 overs (0 Run)
Angling in, fuller as well, outside off, Rishabh Pant leans on it and times the drive straight to cover.

4.3 overs (1 Run)
Slightly uppish but safe! Delivers it on a good length, on off, the ball stops in the surface and it results in Axar Patel driving it aerially but it drops wide of cover and the batters cross over.

4.2 overs (6 Runs)
SIX! More in control and Axar Patel gets the maximum reward! Digs it in short but offers width on off, Axar Patel waits for the ball to come to him and ramps it over the keeper and the first slip for half a dozen.

4.1 overs (4 Runs)
FOUR! Streaky but they all count! Afridi bowls it in the corridor of off, on a short of a good length, Axar Patel pushes at the delivery away from his body. He is late on the shot and the ball races off the toe-end of the bat to the right of deep third for a boundary.

3.6 overs (1 Run)
Dishes it out on a fullish length, outside off, Axar Patel gets his bat down in time and squeezes it out to deep third for a single.

3.5 overs (0 Run)
Trifecta of plays and misses! Much fuller from Amir and this is near the tramline on off, Axar Patel goes for an expansive drive away from his body but the ball goes away and whizzes past the bat.

3.4 overs (0 Run)
And again! Pulls the length back and offers a bit of width on off, Axar Patel tries to latch onto the width but goes after it tentatively and gets beaten on the outside edge.

3.3 overs (0 Run)
Beaten! Serves it on a good length and in that channel on off, Axar Patel has a loose poke at the delivery and he is lucky not to nick this one behind as the ball nips past the bat.

3.2 overs (3 Runs)
A good chase from Shaheen Afridi to save a run for his side. Bowls it with an upright seam, full and on off, Rishabh Pant brings his bottom hand into play and whips it along the ground through mid-wicket. The ball holds up in the outfield again, allowing Shaheen to pull it back. Three runs taken.

3.1 overs (0 Run)
Starts with an outswinger from over the wicket and bowls it full as well, Rishabh Pant shoulders arms.

Mohammad Amir comes into the attack now.

2.6 overs (0 Run)
Angling in from wide of the crease on the over-the-wicket angle, on off, Axar Patel plays it late off the back foot and guides it to backward point. Back-to-back successful overs for Pakistan have put India under early pressure.

2.5 overs (0 Run)
Hurls it around off, on a short of a good length, Axar Patel gets on top of the bounce nicely and punches it to cover.

2.5 overs (1 Run)
WIDE! Lands it beyond the tramline on off, Axar Patel lets it go for a wide.

Axar Patel has been sent up the order as a pinch-hitter it seems.

2.4 overs (0 Run)
OUT! IN THE AIR AND GONE! The Eagle has landed in New York. India rocked early with both back openers in the hut. Shaheen varies his line as this is on the pads, full in length, Rohit Sharma tries to play the pick-up shot, similar to what he did before the break which went for six. However, this time, gets more height on it and it goes only as far as deep square leg where Haris Rauf runs to his left and settles under the skier. Pakistan with the first blow in this big game.

2.3 overs (0 Run)
Edged but it drops way short! Continues to angle it away from the batter, around off, Rohit Sharma defends it with soft hands and it goes on the bounce to the diving fielder at first slip.

2.2 overs (0 Run)
Play and a miss! The ball is coming out of the hand nicely for Shaheen Afridi after the break. Keeps it full and lures Rohit Sharma into the drive, angles it across, outside off, Rohit looks to go back over the bowler’s head but gets beaten on the angle.

2.1 overs (0 Run)
At 136.1 kph, full and angling away, around off, Rohit Sharma gets on the front foot and covers the line of the ball to block it out.

1.6 overs (1 Run)
Bangs it away on a hard length, over off, Rohit Sharma hangs back in his crease and steers it with an open bat face down to deep third to keep the strike. End of a successful over from Naseem.

1.5 overs (4 Runs)
FOUR! Too straight and these are easy pickings for Rohit Sharma. Strays on the pads with a short fine leg in place and it is full as well, Rohit Sharma allows the ball to come to him and helps it to the left of short fine leg for a boundary.

1.5 overs (2 Runs)
TWO WIDES! Tries to get the ball to shape back into the left-hander but slips it down leg, on a fuller length, Rishabh Pant lets it go and it goes on the bounce to the keeper, Mohammad Rizwan who fails to make a clean stop diving away to his right and concedes an extra.

1.4 overs (0 Run)
Past the outside edge! Angles it away from the left-hander, on a length, on off, Rishabh Pant plays inside the line of the ball and gets beaten on the outside edge.

Rishabh Pant walks in at number 3.

1.3 overs (0 Run)
OUT! TAKEN! Straight to the fielder and it is Naseem Shah with the first strike for Pakistan. Not the best of deliveries from Naseem but he still manages to get a wicket off it. Naseem offers width and it is too short as well, Virat Kohli reaches out as he looks to slap it over covers. The ball stops in the surface a bit and Kohli plays it too far away from his body to get the connection. Ends up getting this one off the toe-end of the bat and it goes straight to cover-point where Usman Khan leaps and takes the catch over his head.

1.2 overs (0 Run)
Pulls the length back and bowls it on off, Virat Kohli uses his feet and defends it right under his eyeline.

1.1 overs (4 Runs)
FOUR! Class written all over it and Virat Kohli is away! Naseem gets a good away shape on this one, full and outside off, Virat Kohli stays balanced in the crease and extends his hands to cream the drive through covers. Despite the damp outfield, the ball has enough legs to reach the fence.

Welcome, back! It is time for Take 2 and the mother of all cricketing clashes is back underway and the big positive is that the skies have cleared up a bit more as well. The umpires are back out in the middle and so are the players of Pakistan. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are set to resume their stay with the latter taking strike for the first ball. Naseem Shah will share the new ball with Shaheen Afridi. Let’s go…

UPDATE – 9.12 pm IST (3.42 pm GMT) – Positive news! As we had hoped, it was just a passing shower, and the umpires are out to inspect the outfield as we speak. The square stays covered for now and the call on taking the covers off will be taken soon by the match officials, who are currently in a discussion with the head of the ground staff. The covers are being peeled off now, and the stumps are being erected. The Pakistan players have come out, and we should not be far away from resumption now. Right then, play will restart at 9.30 pm IST (4 pm GMT) with no overs lost.

UPDATE – 8.55 pm IST (3.25 pm GMT) – Uh, oh! Look who’s back? Yes, the rain but it seems to be just a passing shower and hopefully, it just is only a passing shower. Just as Naseem Shah was raring to bowl the second over, the heavens opened up again and the players are off the field. Frustrating for everyone on and off the field but it is just that kind of a day. Stay tuned for further updates. A few minutes later, the rain has really picked up now. Another thing to keep in mind is that there is a buffer of 90 minutes before we start losing overs and if this burst of rain persists for a while longer, we will certainly start losing overs.

0.6 over (0 Run)
A massive shout for LBW but the umpire shakes his head! Shaheen Afridi is extremely confident but Babar Azam, standing at mid off, spots the inside edge and Pakistan do not take the review. This was very full from Shaheen, on middle, a hint of inward shape, Rohit Sharma went for the flick shot and should consider himself lucky that he got an inside edge on it because he was struck right in front of the stumps. An eventful end to the first over of this game.

0.5 over (0 Run)
Delivers it on the off-stump line and keeps it on a good length, Rohit Sharma gets a good stride in and dabs it square to cover-point.

0.4 over (0 Run)
Gets the ball to angle across from over the wicket, on a good length, Rohit Sharma watcfully shoulders arms.

0.3 over (6 Runs)
SIX! WOW! It does not take long for Rohit Sharma to get going! The Indian skipper picked the bones out of that. Shaheen bowls it around middle and leg, on a length, Rohit Sharma picks up the line and length early and plays the pick-up shot to perfection. Clears deep square leg for a biggie.

0.2 over (0 Run)
Drags the length back and aims it over middle, not much movement, Rohit Sharma hangs back and stabs it down off the deck with a straight bat.

0.1 over (2 Runs)
Rohit Sharma and India are underway! Shaheen Afridi steams in from over the wicket with a slip in place and pitches it right up, on middle and leg, Rohit Sharma brings his wrists into play and clips it through square leg. The ball holds up in the outfield and Rohit comes back for the second run.

Done with the pre-match proceedings and it is now time to play! It has been quite a long wait but it is almost always worth the wait. The umpires are out in the middle and so are the players of Pakistan who spread out on the field. The prolific opening duo of skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli walks out to open the innings for India. Shaheen Afridi has the new ball in hand and is raring to go. Just the one slip in place. Let’s go…

Just a few minutes left for the big clash! One of the ambassadors of this T20 World Cup and one of India’s greatest white-ball players ever, Yuvraj Singh walks out and places that coveted trophy on the podium. Next up the officials walks out and behind them are the two sets of players who will line up for their respective national anthems. It is a sea of blue out in the crowd with a tinge of green here and there. It will be the national anthem of Pakistan first followed by the national anthem of India.

UPDATE – 8.30 pm IST (3 pm GMT) – The Super Soppers have done their job, and the outfield has dried up nicely. Play is set to start at 8.50 pm IST (3.20 pm GMT), provided there is no more rain. It has brightened up as well, and let’s hope that we do not have any more delays. In case you were wondering, no overs have been lost despite the amount of time we have lost.

UPDATE – 8.23 pm IST (2.53 pm GMT) – Great news! The rain has stopped, and the covers are coming off. However, it does not look like we will be starting on time, and we will most certainly be having a further delay to this high-octane clash. The hessian has also been removed, which is a good sign. The match officials are seen in a discussion with the chief of the ground staff and will soon have an update regarding the start of play. Stick around for more news.

UPDATE – 8.14 pm IST (2.44 pm GMT) – Oh, no! The rain has returned, and the ground staff are quick to put the covers back on. Fingers crossed that the rain subsides soon enough for us to get going at the scheduled start time of 8.30 pm IST (3 pm GMT).

Suryakumar Yadav is down for a chat. He says that you can’t prepare for weather like this but the general preparation has been good. Adds that he won’t try to avoid any shot on this track and intent is important. Mentions that it has always been a great competition between India and Pakistan and he is looking forward to a good game.

The captain of India, Rohit Sharma says that they would have bowled first as well. Tells that they will look to assess as quickly as possible and try to get a decent score. Feels that it can be challenging upfront but they know what they need to do as a batting group. Reckons that every game in the World Cup is crucial and it is important to turn up pretty well. Opines that having played a couple of games in New York will help them in assessing what the right score is on this surface. Ends by informing that they are going with the same team as the last game.

Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan says that they will bowl first given the weather and pitch conditions and will try to utilize the first 6 overs. Adds that the early conditions will suit them given they have four fast bowlers and mentions that they have to forego the past and are ready for the clash. Adds that they are always motivated when facing India and informs that they have one change in the side with Imad Wasim coming in for Azam Khan.

Pakistan (Playing XI) – Mohammad Rizwan (WK), Babar Azam (C), Usman Khan, Fakhar Zaman, Shadab Khan, Iftikhar Ahmed, Imad Wasim (In for Azam Khan), Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, Naseem Shah, Mohammad Amir.

India (Unchanged Playing XI) – Rohit Sharma (C), Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant (WK), Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Siraj.

TOSS – Babar Azam calls ‘heads’ and heads it is. Pakistan have opted to BOWL first.

UPDATE – 7.45 pm IST (2.15 pm GMT) – Right then, it’s inspection time! The match officials are out in talks with the ground staff. The ground staff are slowly starting to peel the covers off the square before proceeding to uncover the strip. More promising signs as the toss is set to take place at 8 pm IST (2.30 pm GMT). The first ball will be bowled at 8.30 pm IST (3 pm GMT) with no overs lost.

UPDATE – 7.30 pm IST (2 pm GMT) – The rain has stopped, which is great news for everyone! The umpires are also out for an inspection. They are not satisfied with the conditions just yet and have scheduled another inspection for 7.45 pm IST (2.15 pm GMT). We will gain more clarity then regarding the toss and the start of play. For now, though, the toss has been officially delayed.

UPDATE – 7.14 pm IST (1.44 pm GMT) – Uh, oh! Not the best start to our coverage, as it’s currently raining at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium and the square has been covered. What started off as a drizzle has unfortunately picked up, but let’s hope that it is a passing shower and that there is no delay to the commencement of the game. Stay tuned for more updates.

On the other hand, after a shocking defeat at the hands of the USA in Dallas, Pakistan are right up against it early in the tournament. Their Powerplay woes, visible in the campaign opener, highlight the importance of experienced batters like Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Fakhar Zaman. The four-pronged pace attack of Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Amir, Haris Rauf, and Naseem Shah is expected to step up, while Imad Wasim passing his fitness test is a much-needed boost to their spin department. Pakistan are as unpredictable as they come, and only time will tell which Pakistan will turn up against India. Will Babar Azam and Co. bounce back, or will India, having lost only once against Pakistan in World Cup cricket, extend their dominance? Stay tuned to find out.

India have kicked off their mission to end the ICC trophy drought on a high note with a fairly comfortable win over Ireland. Rohit Sharma had a scratchy inning, but the time spent out in the middle will be invaluable for the Indian skipper. Games against Pakistan always bring out the best in Virat Kohli, and both he and Rohit will be crucial on this challenging surface. With Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Siraj, and Hardik Pandya forming a formidable pace attack, it will be interesting to see if Kuldeep Yadav, who enjoyed success against Pakistan in the 2023 ODI World Cup, finds a place in the side.

Hello and a warm welcome, folks! Games don’t come much bigger than this. It’s India versus Pakistan at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. The ‘Big Apple’ is buzzing with excitement as the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium gears up to host this epic showdown between two arch-rivals. Adding to the intrigue are the spicy pitches in New York, which have so far tested the batters to the hilt, but it all should make for some entertaining viewing.

Swing and a miss! Delivers it in the channel on off, on a short of a good length, Andy Balbirnie gives himself room and charges down the track to go big on the off side but fails to connect.

1.2 overs (0 Run)
Nicely bowled! Bowls it with an upright seam from over the wicket, seaming away off the deck, at 133.6 kph, Andy Balbirnie hangs back and shapes to play it square on the off side but gets beaten on the outside edge.

1.1 overs (0 Run)
Attacks the off pole, on a good length, Andy Balbirnie gets right behind the line and pushes it to cover.

0.4 over (0 Run)
Beaten and that did not carry to the keeper. Early signs of the variable bounce. Gets the ball to angle across the right-hander, on a good length, Paul Stirling looks to keep it out with a straight bat but plays inside the line of the ball and it goes on the bounce to the keeper.

0.3 over (0 Run)
Swinging back in, at the stumps, on a good length, Paul Stirling presents a high elbow and punches it to cover.

0.2 over (2 Runs)
Paul Stirling is off the mark too! Arshdeep pulls his length back and bowls it on a length, around off, shaping in, Paul Stirling gives the bowler the charge and times the drive through covers. The ball slows up in the outfield and does not have enough legs to reach the fence. Poor running from the Irish openers as they settle with just two.

0.1 over (1 Run)
Andy Balbirnie and Ireland are underway! Steams in from over the wicket and gets a good inward shape, full and around leg, Andy Balbirnie brings his wrists into play and clips it through square leg for a single.

All done with the pre-match formalities, and now it’s time to start the action at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium. The Indian team is in the last-minute huddle near the ropes before dispersing to their respective fielding positions. Out walk the two Irish openers, Paul Stirling and Andy Balbirnie. Arshdeep Singh has the new ball and is all in readiness to get the proceedings underway with the new ball for India. And, here we go…

Before we get to the real business, the teams are lining up for their respective national anthems. Yuvraj Singh, one of the ambassadors of this World Cup strides out with the shining trophy in his hands along with the two Umpires. It will be Ireland’s anthem first, followed by the Indian national anthem.

The captain of Ireland, Paul Stirling says that they would have bowled first as well with the overcast conditions around. Shares that the prepartion has been really good through the Tri-Series in Amsterdam and are looking forward to this game. Tells that there are plenty of match-winners in their side and it is about turning up and feels that there cannot be a better occasion than this. With the indifferent results witnessed at this venue, he feels that assessing condtions early will be important. Ends by informing that they are going with 3 pacers and 2 spinners with a couple of all-rounders.

Rohit Sharma, the Indian skipper opts to bowl first. Says the preparation has been alright and says it has been a bit challenging on this track but it’s all about assesing the conditions but as professionals they need to be prepared. Says at the end of the day, you have to use all your experience and play good cricket and that they played on a similar track in the warm-up so they do understand what to expect. Adds it’s gonna be slightly different to what they are used to and says that having a score in front of them would be ideal. Says they are going with four seamers including Hardik Pandya and two spinning all-rounders are Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja.

Ireland (Playing XI) – Paul Stirling (C), Andy Balbirnie, Lorcan Tucker (WK), Harry Tector, Curtis Campher, George Dockrell, Gareth Delany, Mark Adair, Barry McCarthy, Joshua Little, Ben White.

India (Playing XI) – Rohit Sharma (C), Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant (WK), Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Siraj.

TOSS – India have won the toss and they have opted to BOWL first.

PITCH REPORT – Shaun Pollock starts by informing that 63 meters and 72 meters are the dimensions of the square boundaries, with a 74-meter hit down the ground. He says that the outfield was sluggish, but ground staff have given it an extra cut, and he hopes that it results in a quicker outfield. Ebony Rainford-Brent joins him and informs that pitch number 1 was used for the game between Sri Lanka and South Africa but this game will be played on pitch number 4. Opines that this looks a good wicket and it is the same surface which saw India score 182 in the warm-up game against Bangladesh. With overcast skies, Pollock feels that it is better to bowl first with the uncertainty regarding the surface.

On the other side, Ireland enter this World Cup brimming with confidence, having upset Pakistan before going on to clinch the Tri-Series involving the Netherlands and Scotland. The Irish boast a deep batting lineup, but for a significant impact, Paul Stirling, Andy Balbirnie, Lorcan Tucker, and Harry Tector will need to perform collectively. In the bowling department, Joshua Little and Mark Adair will hold the key, with Little expected to exploit India’s historical struggles against left-arm seamers. While Ireland have never beaten India in Men’s T20Is, records mean little, and it’s all about who plays better cricket on the day. Buckle up, as this promises to be a fascinating contest. Toss and team news coming up.

India came heartbreakingly close to ending their ICC trophy drought at the 2023 ODI World Cup, only to stumble at the final hurdle against Australia. Now, Rohit Sharma’s men are on a determined quest for redemption, eager to end their trophy drought once and for all. The backbone of India’s batting unit features Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Suryakumar Yadav. However, the performance of the supporting cast will be crucial in determining India’s fate in the competition. On the bowling front, all eyes will be on Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav, two game-changers capable of turning the tide in India’s favour single-handedly.

Hello and a warm welcome, everyone! We are back in the bustling ‘Big Apple,’ where India take on Ireland at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in match number 8 of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, 2024. T20I cricket’s debut in New York has been quite challenging for batters, with drop-in pitches proving tricky to navigate. If the surface behaves as it did during the clash between Sri Lanka and South Africa, it will make for some entertaining viewing.

RR vs RCB LIVE: Run-out chance missed

Karn Sharma made a massive miss in the second over. Sanju Samson hit the ball to the right of sweeper cover and wanted to take a couple. Jaiswal sent him back during the second run, but Samson failed to take his crease in time. Karn, who received the throw at non-striker’s end, lacked presence of mind and didn’t take a shot at stumps. Had he hit the target, Samson would have been in trouble.

Yash Dayal has been slammed for four fours in his first over. The first one was a sharp catch at first slip where Cameron Green got a hand but failed to grab it. On the very next ball, Jaiswal slammed a four through the backward point and Virat Kohli saw it with a dejected expression.

  • 20:53 (IST)

RR vs RCB LIVE: Huge controversy

On the third ball of 15th over, Avesh Khan got Dinesh Karthik out as LBW. Umpire raised his finger on the appeal but Karthik decided to review it. The UltraEdge showed a spike but it seemed that the ball cleanly hit Karthik’s front pad and the spike was rather due to the bat brushing the pad. The TV umpire failed to obeserve it closely and passes the verdict in batter’s favour. ajasthan Royals’ Director of Cricket Kumar Sangakkara and other RR members were furious over the decision.

Here are the Highlights of KKR vs SRH IPL 2024, Qualifier 1 match –

  • 22:59 (IST)

KKR vs SRH Qualifier 1 Live Score: What V Iyer siad

More than the confidence I was really wanting to go out and bat, we last played a game on 11th, so we all were eager to go out and showcase our talent. The wicket was really good. In a tournament like this, momentum is really important, we have seen RCB winning their matches and gaining the momentum even we wanted that momentum, so we wanted to go out and wanted the rain to stop but it was disappointing. But, we were the table toppers and we have got a lot of support from the management. It is always special for players like us to play in the IPL final, it’s a dreamy moment for us, going to Chennai and looking forward to it. We were raring to go out there, when you have the momentum you want to really go out there. You saw Rinku fielding in hot spots and taking those catches, it’s the excitement we have to go out there and perform.

  • 22:55 (IST)

KKR vs SRH Qualifier 1 Live Score: Cummins after the match

Yeah we will try to put this behind quickly, good thing we will have a crack at it (second qualifier). You have those days in T20 cricket where things doesn’t quite work out. We weren’t where we wanted with the bat and obviously couldn’t do much with the ball. Felt that extra batting was important (picking the impact sub) on this wicket. Thought KKR bowled really well, there was a little bit in it early on and the surface got better. We all have played enough cricket, and going to a new venue (Chennai) helps us as well, so we gotta keep this behind and move on. (edited)

  • 22:47 (IST)

KKR vs SRH Qualifier 1 Live Score: Kolkata Knight Riders have done it!

  • 21:41 (IST)

KKR vs SRH Qualifier 1 Live Score: What Starc said

I have been fortunate enough to play on some big occasions, nice to get our team off to a good start, we know how SRH matched us in terms of attacking with the bat in the powerplay. Their (Head and Abhishek) partnership has been the key for them and to get both of them out cheaply, it’s really pleasing. The wicket’s got a bit skiddier and there is some swing as well, I feel the wicket will get better with dew and the powerplay will be really key for us.

  • 21:35 (IST)

KKR vs SRH Qualifier 1 Live Score: Run chase begins

(edited)

The set-up is great, last match before the knock-out stage, the scenario is nicely set-up and we’re happy to play our last league game in front of our fans. Not thinking a lot, we’ll take it as it comes and do our best,” said RCB skipper Faf du Plessis.

DC vs LSG Live Score: What Rishabh Pant said

We would have batted first. There are a lot of things going on (regarding qualification) but you can only focus on winning the game. If you had not lost too many wickets we would have won that game, but easier to say that from sitting out. That is a concern throughout the season but as a captain you can ask the players to give their best and they are doing that. We have two changes – myself and Naib come in, Warner misses out.

  • 19:21 (IST)

DC vs LSG Live Score: What KL Rahul said

“We will bowl first. It is because of how our team is placed and what will help our team. We are a young bowling attack and get them into the game early, we have experienced batters and they can take the pressure. It is pretty clear for us, we have to win both games. The last two games we have not been up to the mark and have been blasted out of the game. The bowlers have to be brave, as a bowling unit you might fear using change ups but they have to do just back themselves. Couple of changes.”
