SunRisers Hyderabad vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru, IPL 2024: Predicted Playing XI Of Both Teams | Cricket News

SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) will host Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in match 41 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Thursday. Led by Pat Cummins, SunRisers Hyderabad have been one of the most dominant teams in IPL 2024 so far. They are currently on a four-match winning streak. With five wins and two losses, SRH are currently placed third in the IPL 2024 standings with 10 points from seven matches. On the other hand, Royal Challengers Bengaluru have struggled in the ongoing edition of the IPL.

The Faf du Plessis-led RCB have secured just a solitary victory in eight games this season and are languishing at the bottom of the IPL 2024 standings with two points.

Ahead of another crucial IPL 2024 clash, we look at the predicted XIs of both sides.

RCB Predicted XI

Faf du Plessis (captain)

RCB captain Faf du Plessis has scored 239 runs in eight games this season at an average of 29.88 and a strike rate of 152.22. He will need to score big against SRH if they are to end their losing streak.

Virat Kohli

Former RCB skipper Virat Kohli has been the leading run-scorer in IPL 2024. The stylish batter has amassed 379 runs in eight matches at a strike rate of 150.39, including one century and two fifties to his name. RCB will once again rely on Virat to put a good score on the board.

Will Jacks

Hard-hitting Will Jacks slammed his first IPL fifty against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their last game. Chasing 223, Jacks smashed 55 off just 32 balls, laced with four fours and five sixes. He can also contribute with his off-spin and the England cricketer will look to continue his form against SRH.

Rajat Patidar
Flamboyant Rajat Patidar returned to form with a blistering half-century at the Eden Gardens in their previous outing. Batting at No.4, Patidar slammed a 23-ball 52 to almost help his side pull off a miraculous run chase. Patidar could play a crucial role for RCB in their upcoming encounter.

Cameron Green

Australian star all-rounder Cameron Green has failed to impress in IPL 2024. The 24-year-old has scored just 74 runs and bagged four wickets in six matches this season. Green could be given another opportunity to prove his worth against SRH but will need to come good soon.

Mahipal Lomror

Middle-order batter Mahipal Lomror is due a big score in the ongoing IPL. The southpaw has scored 73 runs in five games at an impressive strike rate of 202.77 and will look to make his presence felt against the SunRisers in Hyderabad.

Dinesh Karthik (wicketkeeper)

Wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik has been one of the standout performers for RCB this season. Karthik has already played quite a few impactful knocks, having accumulated 251 runs in eight matches at a strike rate of 196.09. He will aim to continue his scintillating form against SRH.

Karn Sharma

Karn Sharma was economical in a high-scoring encounter at the Eden Gardens. Despite not picking up a wicket, Sharma finished with figures of none for 33 against a star-studded KKR batting line-up. RCB will need the experienced leg-spinner to provide them with few breakthroughs in the middle overs on Thursday.

Mohammed Siraj

Mohammed Siraj has been expensive in IPL 2024 so far. The right-arm pacer has conceded over 10 runs per over this season. However, Siraj has a knack of picking wickets, having scalped five wickets in seven games so far and will look to produce a good performance at his home ground in Hyderabad.

Lockie Ferguson

New Zealand pacer Lockie Ferguson has played just two games for RCB this season. The right-arm fast bowler has claimed just three wickets so far and Ferguson could play a key role in restricting the SRH batters on Thursday.

Yash Dayal

Left-arm pacer Yash Dayal has been the leading wicket-taker for RCB in IPL 2024. Dayal has scalped seven wickets in just as many games. However, the 26-year-old has been a bit expensive having conceded nearly 10 runs per over and will need to be more economical.

SRH Predicted XI

Travis Head

SRH opening batter Travis Head hammered 89 runs off just 32 balls against DC in their last game. The swashbuckling batter has been in sensational form this season, having accumulated 324 runs in six matches, including a 41-ball 102 against RCB and Head could once again be the game-changer for SRH.

Abhishek Sharma

Abhishek Sharma has hogged the limelight with his incredible hitting this season. The southpaw has formed an incredible opening partnership with Head for SRH in IPL 2024. He has already scored 257 runs in seven games at a strike rate of 215.97 and will look to provide another blitzkrieg start against struggling RCB.

Aiden Markram

SRH middle-order batter Aiden Markram has scored 160 runs in seven games in IPL 2024. The South African T20I captain smashed an unbeaten 32 runs off just 17 balls against RCB to help SRH post a record 287/3 in their last meeting and he will look to continue his good form against Bengaluru.

Heinrich Klaasen (wicketkeeper)

Heinrich Klaasen has been one of the best finishers in the ongoing IPL. The 32-year-old wicketkeeper-batter has amassed 268 runs in seven games at a strike rate of 198.51 while also maintaining an average of 53.60. Klaasen scored a 31-ball 67 in their last encounter against RCB earlier and will look to score big on Thursday.

Nitish Reddy

Nitish Reddy has been a quality inclusion in SRH’s playing XI this season. The 20-year-old has been impressive, having scored 115 runs and bagged three wickets in four matches so far. He will look to contribute with both bat and ball against RCB.

Shahbaz Ahmed

SRH all-rounder Shahbaz Ahmed registered his first IPL fifty against DC in their last game. Batting at No.6, Shahbaz slammed an unbeaten 59 off just 29 balls to power SRH to 266/7. Apart from scoring 129 runs, he has picked up three wickets with his left-arm spin and will look to continue his good all-round form.

Abdul Samad

Abdul Samad is another hard-hitting batter in SRH’s playing XI. In his limited opportunities, Samad has amassed 119 runs in seven matches this season at a strike rate of 216.36 and can also contribute with his leg spin.

Pat Cummins (Captain)

SRH captain Pat Cummins has continued to impress as a leader in IPL 2024. Apart from his leadership qualities, Cummins has bagged nine wickets in seven matches at an economy of eight. The Australia skipper can also play a cameo with the bat if required.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar

SRH’s star pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar produced a brilliant spell of 1/33 against DC in their previous outing. Bhuvneshear dismissed David Warner to provide an early breakthrough for SRH. Having scalped four wickets in seven matches this season, SRH will expect more from Bhuvi against RCB.

Mayank Markande

Talented Mayank Markande has been a wicket-taker for SRH in IPL 2024. The 26-year-old leg-spinner has already bagged seven wickets in six matches so far and could play a key role against RCB at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

Thangarasu Natarajan

Left-arm pacer T Natarajan has been one of the standout bowlers for SRH this season. He has already claimed 10 wickets in five matches at an economy of 8.50 and will look to add to his wickets tally against RCB on Thursday.

IPL 2024 Live Score: SRH go all guns blazing

Gerald Coetzee has bowled a 12-run over. It could have been a really good over but Coetzee bowled a wide delivery to Aiden Markram that went away for a four runs as well. Jasprit Bumrah, Kwena Maphaka and Gerald Coetzee all have one more overs left in their respective quotas. Hardik Pandya has already bowled his four overs. That means one of the overs have to be bowled by an spinner.

Russell’s brutal unbeaten 64 off 25 balls with three fours and seven sixes and Phil Salt’s more pragmatic 54 off 40 balls guided KKR to 208 for seven. Left-arm pacer T Natarajan was their most successful bowler with a three-wicket haul (3/32). At several points, SRH threatened to chase 208 down, particularly when Heinrich Klaasen (63, 29b, 8x6s) went berserk in the backend of the innings. But the Hyderabad side fell agonisingly close to the target with Harshit Rana saving 12 runs in the final over. (Scorecard)

From Virat Kohli’s 50th ODI Ton To Glenn Maxwell’s Great Wankhede Heist, A Look At Top Cricketing Moments Of 2023 | Cricket News

Cricket is a game of moments. More than the sounds of the bat and ball, the mini physical, statistical, mental and status-based match-ups and moments that come during a game define the sport and capture the excitement, joy, heartbreak, ecstasy, and sadness it brings. All it takes is a single moment to win a game, to capture a World Cup, to become an unlikely hero and to break a million of hearts.

With each stroke and swing of cricketing equipment, cricket transports millions from the monotony of daily life to ecstasy, from wanting more to appreciating simple joys and things of life, from sitting inside their living rooms to getting resolute about doing something big for themselves and their country.

2023 was no different as years-old records were shattered, and some upset wins were recorded. Some empires continued rising to the top, some fell on the floor with a thud. With the amount of international and league cricket action offered this year, it would be a humungous task to truly list out moments that defined this year as their magnitude is different to diverse set of people worldwide.

Nonetheless, here are some top cricket moments of the year, without any ranking:

Virat Kohli completes 50th ODI century

Just a decade back, Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 49 ODI centuries looked impossible to break. Then stepped up a youngster from Delhi, piling up runs and centuries at a rate never seen before every year.

On that eventful November 15 this year during the ICC Cricket World Cup semi-final at Wankhede Stadium against New Zealand, Virat became the first player to make 50 ODI centuries, achieving this feat in front of the legend himself, who was clapping for him in the audience.

From lifting Sachin on his shoulders following India’s World Cup triumph back in 2011 at the same venue, Virat had come a long way, standing shoulder to shoulder with his idol in debates of “Who is the greatest ODI batter of all time?”

Though Virat had outclassed his idol statistically, he still did not forget that he was a kid growing up on Sachin’s heroics on the field, acknowledging the Master Blaster’s claps with a bow.

Glenn Maxwell’s 201* against Afghanistan

In a chase of 292 runs against Afghanistan, Australia was in a spot of bother at 91/7. With a World Cup semifinal spot on the line, even one single mistake could have sent the great Australian empire of cricket crumbling to heaps, out of contention for the semis.

Then arrived the ‘Big Show’, Glenn Maxwell. Having already smashed the fastest World Cup century in just 40 balls against the Netherlands, most people thought that perhaps the best of Maxwell was past them.

But what followed at Wankhede was an instant classic knock. The Australian spirit and traits of resilience, determination, patience and bravery that had helped build a star-studded, multi-time World Cup-winning empire came to the surface.

Despite heat, cramps and back spasms that could have threatened Maxwell’s further participation in the tournament, the all-rounder registered Australia men’s first-ever double ton in just 128 balls, with 21 fours and 10 sixes and won Australia the game single-handedly with skipper Pat Cummins (12* in 68 balls) absolutely nailing the role of an ice-cold anchor. The gulf of championship titles and big match experience was exposed and sent Afghanistan packing out of the contention for semifinals.

West Indies knocked out of ICC Cricket World Cup qualifiers

In one of the most shocking and unexpected games of all time, the Netherlands, led by a century from Teja Nidamanuru (111) managed to tie West Indies’ total of 374 runs.

Later on, star all-rounder Logan van Beek smashed an experienced Jason Holder for 30 runs in the Super Over and also defended it with his sharp bowling. Outthrown were the two-time champions out of an ICC Cricket World Cup for the first time ever.

An associate member of the ICC, which barely played international cricket with the top teams, had deprived the marquee tournament of the Caribbean flavour. The empire which boasted the likes of Brian Lara, Clive Lloyd, Malcolm Marshall, Chris Gayle, and Viv Richards etc had sunk to its lowest.

Afghanistan beats England in 2023 Cricket World Cup

The Afghan Tigers showed the world that it is here to stay during the Cricket World Cup held in India, a place many of its stars consider as their second home because of the popularity they enjoy here and the amount of investment Indian cricket has made in raising them from ground level.

The win against defending champions England is something that will haunt every other team forever, making them take this rising Asian side seriously. Bundling out a strong

English batting lineup for 215 while defending a solid 284 in front of a loud Delhi crowd sent shockwaves across the cricketing world. This shock hit England the most and sent them on a losing streak that snatched any chances of defending their crown from them.

Mohammed Siraj’s monster spell against Sri Lanka in Asia Cup final

This Hyderabadi pace bowler has a knack for taking a useful powerplay wicket or two. But on September 17 against defending champions Sri Lanka, Siraj took the whole match away from Sri Lanka in powerplay itself, reducing them to 12/6 at one point.

The pacer’s spell of 6/21 in seven overs destroyed the Lankan team inside out, and bundled them out for just 50 in 15.2 overs, which India chased down without breaking a sweat.

The long-term damage of this spell was such that Lankan Lions, who had till then played some really solid cricket, could garner just two wins in nine matches of the CWC 2023 and even lost their ICC Champions Trophy spot.

Virat Kohli’s seventh IPL Century

In Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) final league stage match against Gujarat Titans, star India batter Virat Kohli passed Chris Gayle’s record of six IPL tons, smashing his 7th in just 61 balls, studded with 13 fours and a six.

Not only this was a typical Virat day at work, smashing records for fun, but a statement aimed at those who still doubted his T20 game despite his mind-boggling numbers in the format that he is not finished!

MS Dhoni-Ravindra Jadeja hug after winning IPL 2023

Following over a month of criticism for his batting and even booing from a section of fans who wanted to see some good old MS Dhoni sixes over him, Ravindra Jadeja’s IPL 2023 had a fairytale ending as he hit the 10 runs required in the final two balls to win Chennai Super Kings (CSK) its fifth title.

Among the ones who rushed to Jadeja following this win was Dhoni, who could not even score a run in the final. With tears in his eyes, Dhoni lifted in the air his most trusted partner-in-crime, a protege that had turned into an all-time great following years of Mahi’s backing and great performances, forming one of the league’s most iconic photographs.

Mumbai Indians winning the first-ever Women’s Premier League

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is a cricketing empire. For years, women cricketers waited for a women’s version of the league so that they could have their share of the spotlight, development and stage sharing with some of the best in the business.

This dream translated into a reality. In a thrilling final, MI, the most successful IPL franchise in men’s cricket, secured its first-ever WPL title as well, beating Delhi Capitals by seven wickets. This hopefully, has started off another success story that will change the course of women’s cricket in years to come.

Jonny Bairstow run-out during Ashes 2023

During the second Test of the Ashes at Lord’s, Jonny Bairstow was run out for just 10, with a direct hit by Alex Carey, which happened just after Bairstow had left the ball and walked out of his crease, expecting no harm.

The controversy over this runout and the ‘Spirit of Cricket’ disturbed England for a short while, losing the second game by 43 runs despite a Ben Stokes masterclass of 155 in chase of 371 runs. But it filled England with enough fuel to dominate Australia for the remainder of the series and level it 2-2 after going down 2-2.

Just a simple run-out changed the whole complexion of this battle between England’s ‘Bazball’ and Australia and let the hosts fight their way out of the humiliation of being 2-0 down in the series.

Marnus Labuschagne bails Australia out of trouble against South Africa

Being introduced as a concussion substitute to Steve Smith re-introduced Marnus Labuschagne to the world after an underwhelming debut and he turned into a premier Test bat. The same rule saved Marnus’ struggling ODI career.

Introduced as a substitute to Cameron Green in the first ODI, Labuschagne took Australia out of troubled waters, marshalling his team from 93/6 to completing a successful chase of 223 runs. This chain of events brought him back into the ODI World Cup squad, where he hit a match-winning fifty and a partnership with destructive Travis Head to secure the Aussies’ sixth title.

Rinku Singh’s five sixes against Gujarat Titans

The match between Kolkata Knight Riders and defending champions Gujarat took a turn from your normal IPL match to an instant classic when a little-known Rinku Singh smashed Yash Dayal for five successive sixes in the final over to complete a 200-run plus chase.

This Uttar Pradesh star rose from a bright prospect to a superstar within an over. His consistent performances earned him a place in Team India, where he is prospering as a finisher.

UAE beat New Zealand in 2nd T20I

In the second match of a three-match T20I series, UAE pulled off one of the greatest upsets of the game’s history, beating New Zealand by seven wickets. Though the New Zealand side was short on experience and star power, UAE defeating a serious, world-class Test-playing nation was not an easy feat.

Nathan Lyon comes out to bat despite injury

After picking up a serious calf injury earlier in the match, Aussie spinner Nathan Lyon delivered one of the game’s greatest examples of determination, putting the team above oneself and pain when he came out to bat in the second innings. Although he scored just four runs, his 15-run stand with Mitchell Starc proved to be a point of difference in Australia’s 43-run win.

New Zealand beat England by a run in a Test match!

In a high-scoring second Test at Wellington, England was given 258 runs to chase by Kiwis. Kiwis had England in a tight situation at 251/9. James Anderson looked to become the unlikely hero by hitting a four and taking England more closer to a win.

But Neil Wagner removed him to win the Kiwis a thriller by just one run despite trailing by 226 runs in the first innings, making this one of the greatest Test wins of the modern era, which involved an unbelievable fightback by the Kiwis. They levelled the series 1-1. It is also the smallest margin in terms of runs in a Test win.

AUS vs NZ Live Score: Pitch report

“It’s nice and cool. Straight boundary – 79 metres, square – 70 metres and 64 metres respectively. England played here against Bangladesh. If you are a bowler, you are saying can we get more grass, you are not getting that today. There’ll be something in the pitch early on, for a little period only. It looks good, it’s hard, it’s flat, a few cracks here and there. You won’t get more spin than normal. In essence, good carry-through to the keeper, batters are gonna cash in after that initial period. Definitely bowl first,” said Anjum Chopra and Pommie Mbangwa.

  • 09:50 (IST)

Australia vs New Zealand Live Score: A confident New Zealand

New Zealand’s winning run ended when India handed them a four-wicket defeat here on last Sunday, but the Kiwis will still be confident about their style of play as they have better understanding of the conditions having spent a considerable time. Adapting to the varied Indian conditions has been spoken about extensively in this World Cup and New Zealand and South Africa, of course apart from India, are perhaps the only two teams who have not only managed to do that but also have learned to get their best out on the park in terms of team combinations.

  • 09:46 (IST)

Live Cricket Score: Head to Head

Even though New Zealand have been one of the top teams in the competition, their ordinary bilateral ODI and World Cup against Australia makes Cummins and Co the favourites. With eight wins and three losses in 11 matches in World Cups so far and overall 95 wins and 39 losses in 141 ODIs, Australia have historically been the better team in the Trans-Tasman rivalry. The fact that New Zealand’s last ODI win over Australia came six years ago in 2017 would also have a great bearing on the contest here, to be played at the picturesque HPCA Stadium.

  • 09:41 (IST)

AUS vs NZ Live Score: Big day for Santner

New Zealand spinner Mitchell Santner will be playing his 100th ODI match today. Currently, the fourth highest wicket-taker in the ongoing tournament, with a total of 12 scalps, Santner is in fiery form and is a crucial member of the Kiwi squad.

  • 09:33 (IST)

AUS vs NZ Live Score: A dominant Australia

Australia bounced back from a poor start — defeats against hosts India and South Africa — with three wins on the trot, including a record 309-run thumping of the Netherlands in their last outing to sound warning bells to their opponents. Entering a crucial phase in the tournament, the five-time champions are currently placed at fourth position, one spot behind New Zealand after five games each. And the Pat Cummins-led side would look to carry forward the momentum and strengthen their position in the top four.

India vs Australia Highlights, WTC 2023 Final, Day 5: Nathan Lyon, Scott Boland Shine As Australia Beat India By 209 Runs To Lift WTC Title | Cricket News

IND vs AUS, WTC 2023 Final Day 5: India need 280 runs to win© AFP

India vs Australia Highlights, WTC Final, Day 5: Nathan Lyon scalped four wickets while Scott Boland took three as Australia defeated India by 209 runs on Day 5 of the World Test Championship final, at The Oval. This was India’s second defeat in successive WTC finals after losing to New Zealand in 2021 in the inaugural edition. Chasing an improbable target of 444, India started the day at 164 for 3 but soon lost batting mainstay Virat Kohli (49), followed by Ravindra Jadeja (0) and Ajinkya Rahane (43) to be bowled out for 234 in 63.3 overs. Scott Boland (3/46) was the best bowler on view as he removed Kohli and Jadeja in a single over to decisively end the contest and the rest was formality. Nathan Lyon (4/41), however, had the best figures as he mopped up the tail in a jiffy.  (Scorecard)

Highlights of Day 5 of WTC Final Between India and Australia, straight from The Oval:

  • 17:32 (IST)

India vs Australia Live: Here’s what Mitchell Starc after the win

We were patient enough against a quality line-up, and managed to get the breakthroughs needed. Rub off the green went our way, a smart catch from Smith and to get Kohli early on was a big boost. He played well in the first innings (about Rahane), was a nice partnership as well, we knew if we stick to our task we will get chances and they did come. This group has played for a long time, some new guys have come in, the last series against India didn’t go our way, but we have played together as a group and have stuck together. Both sides were familiar to each other (having played a Test series recently), a lot of the guys have played with each other in the IPL, so we know a lot about watching others games, Lyon did a good job as well and we enjoyed ourselves.

  • 17:30 (IST)

India vs Australia Live: Here’s what Travis Head after the win

Lot of hard work over the two years. It’s been nice. That’s been the approach for two years (positive approach with the bat). Said through the week that I want to be able to be proactive. I was tested throughout the innings. It was nice to be out there for a period of time with Smudge. Amazing week. Amazing Test from him and what we’ve come to expect (from him) here in England. Hope it’s a big couple of months from him. And I’ve always said that it feels like all the plans go to him, all the attention he draws, and I can just go about my work. Nice to spend some time out with him. I’ve always had the confidence. It’s about going out there and expressing that. It took me some time and everyone goes through that. I’ve always been open to change, open to learning. I’ve bedded down somewhat of a blueprint. It’s not always going to work. It’s nice to work that out in such a big game and hopefully continues in the next couple of months. Lot of what-ifs going to bed last night. We’ve come across such moments through the two years where we’ve had to grind it out. Were able to do that again today.

  • 17:26 (IST)

India vs Australia Live: Pitch report

‘The temperature is around 30 degrees and there is a 40% chance of rain, so there could be a thunderstorm, but we do have a reserve day in hand. The pitch though has changed, from green grass to dry grass, the bounce has become lower. There are some foot holes to the left-handers, but there’s not a lot against the right-handers. There could be some reverse with the old ball, but the bowlers will have to work hard on the ball. An unusual Oval pitch, it deteriorates usually, but this one has actually become better,’ say Nasser Hussain and Kumar Sangakkara, in their pitch report.
