Cristiano Ronaldo: Gary Neville says there is no way back for forward at Man Utd


Sky Sports’ Gary Neville says there is “no way back” for Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United after his explosive criticism of the club and manager Erik ten Hag.

Neville, who was himself criticised by Ronaldo during his interview with Piers Morgan on TalkTV, has told Sky Sports he cannot see the Portugal forward playing for the club again.

“No, and l don’t think he wants a way back,” Neville said. “He wouldn’t have done this interview if he wanted a way back. He knew it would bring the headlines it has and be the end of his Manchester United career.”

Speaking to Piers Morgan on TalkTV, Cristiano Ronaldo said Wayne Rooney and Gary Neville ‘don’t know what is going on’ after he received criticism from both his former team-mates

Manchester United have not yet indicated what action they make take following Ronaldo’s interview.

“I’m wondering what Man Utd are doing because the reality of it is they know they have to terminate Cristiano’s contract or they basically open up a precedent so any player can criticise them in the future,” added Neville.

“I agree with some of the things Cristiano has said and many Man Utd fans will agree with many things Cristiano has said but the reality is if you’re an employee within a business and say those things your employment has to terminate and Man Utd have to do that in the next few days.

“Cristiano probably wants that as well but it didn’t need to end like that. They could have come together a couple of weeks ago and navigated a pathway through what could have potentially been choppy seas to the shore but it’s not happened, they’ve both basically backed themselves into a corner.

What did Ronaldo say about Neville and Rooney?

“People can have their own opinions.

“They don’t really know what’s going on at the training ground, they have to listen to my point of view as well. It’s easy to criticise if they don’t know the whole story.

“They are not my friends, they are colleagues. We played together but we’re not having dinner together. It’s part of my journey, they keep criticising me with negativity every time. I can continue my trip and I have to catch up with people who like me.”

“I think he’s – over a period of many, many months – stored up pent-up frustration, he’s not done any interview at all this season for any broadcaster. United are on nearly every single week and I suspect he’s been asked to do an interview after every game, every single week and he’s chosen not to speak. He’s felt he’s needed to come out and say his piece and get off his chest what’s been bugging him.

“I don’t know what he thought in respect of what United fans would think [about the interview]. I’ve called for many years for football players to be open, to be independent thinking and come out and speak their minds and not be micro-managed with an inch of their lives by PR teams. I can’t think that’s happened here – I can’t think any PR advisor would have told him to go and do what he’s done.

“He would have done this off his own back with his own strength of character and personality. There was probably another way to do it but that was from the club’s side and Cristiano’s side, when I had that debate in the studio after the Chelsea game three or four weeks ago with Roy Keane, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Dave Jones, I urged Man Utd and Cristiano to come together that week because it was obvious the relationship was failing or had failed and to navigate a pathway to January or the World Cup where they created a truce. Exits don’t have to happen this way if both sides are proactive and mature. I’m disappointed that meeting doesn’t seem to have happened.

“Cristiano hasn’t been controlled or managed, it doesn’t look like he’s reached out to the club and opened communication lines. We’ve ended up with this quite unsavoury situation whereby it looks like Cristiano is going to end this period of his reign at Man Utd in not a great a feeling as it should be.

“He’s one of the greatest players ever to play the game in the world and certainly one of Man Utd’s greatest ever player. I remember when players left Man Utd when I was there and it didn’t always end in the right way and it never felt right. And as a fan it doesn’t feel right that someone I played with needs to leave the club in this way, or the club need to end it this way.”

Mumbai Theatre Owner to Cut Down Ticket Prices at Maratha Mandir & Gaiety Galaxy


Elaborating on his decision, he shared that the prices of Maratha Mandir and Gaeity Galaxy will be reduced from ₹140 and ₹170 to ₹130 and ₹150 respectively from 21 November.

In continuation to the report, Desai told Hindustan Times, “Multiplexes are for rich people, who want to spend thousands on tickets and food. Jis public ko paise ki padi nahi hai, wo waha jaakar enjoy karle. But, middle-class family mein, jahan 4-5 log ho, toh unka toh poora salary chala jayega ek hi film dekhne mein. (Those who don’t care about the money, can enjoy there. But, a middle-class family of four-five people, will have to spend their entire salary to just watch one film).”

“I want Gaiety Galaxy and Maratha Mandir to be the places where people continue to come for experience. And if I am getting advantage of 40 per cent people from the outside, so to have them come to theatres, if I’ve to cut the ticket price, I’ll happily do that. It’s better than having vacant seats in the cinema hall,” he further told the publication.

Talking about the poor performance of the latest Bollywood releases, he told Hindustan Times, “Movies of (late filmmakers) Manmohan Desai, Yash Chopra would run for weeks. Abhi Bollywood ko kya ho gaya hai? (What has happened to Bollywood now?) Why can’t they make a proper story? Where are the good directors, artists, writers? What’s happening?”

He further told the publication that South films like Kantara, KGF, and Pushpa performed way better than the Bollywood films; among which, Kantara had a 100 percent occupancy rate.

New Instagram Reels, AR, & Explore Ad Formats – AccuraCast


Meta recently announced that businesses can now place ads on the Instagram Explore home screen – the grid that people see when they first arrive on the Explore tab – via the Instagram Marketing API.

Instagram Explore ad Ads in Explore give advertisers the opportunity to extend campaigns to additional audiences. Being part of what’s culturally relevant and trending is desirable to many advertisers. This can be achieved by reaching people who are looking to discover something new.

Explore home ads on Instagram appear as 2×2 tiles in the Explore grid, with the advertiser’s account name, a “sponsored” label, and a call-to-action button that you select.

People can click on the tile to see the ad in their feed, and continue scrolling to see a mix of organic posts and ads. Users can also click on the account name to go to the Instagram profile or the call-to-action button (for example, ‘Learn more’) to visit the advertiser’s website / landing page.

Regardless of your feelings towards Meta, they own three of the most-used social networks, as of January 2022. They cannot be overlooked when it comes to advertising.

Instagram is also experimenting with “Multi-Advertiser Ads,” which show consumers other advertisements from businesses with related products or services once they interact with an ad.

Ad performance data for the Instagram Explore home is available within the placement level insights reports.

Instagram will take advantage of Meta’s latest technological advancements with a new ad format that incorporates augmented reality (AR) to add an interactive element to ads. Using Meta’s example, a furniture company could use AR filters to let consumers design a dream living space — all without leaving their Instagram feed.

Film Review: Aftersun

You become mum or dad and the idea that you too might have a life – an internal life – is something that shrinks, even shrivels.

You become mum or dad and the idea that you too might have a life – an internal life – is something that shrinks, even shrivels.

We first meet Calum and Sophie – played respectively by Paul Mescal and Francesca Corio – just as they say goodbye. Like many things in Charlotte Wells’s astounding debut feature Aftersun, it is captured on a camcorder at the airport as they head to different destinations. It is the end of the story, but it is from the viewpoint of endings that the whole narrative is told.

Calum is taking his 11-year-old daughter on holiday to Turkey. He is a young father and his relationship with the mother has ended, though they are still on very good terms. He is a little lost. Through his conversations with Sophie we learn that he’s broken up with his girlfriend and he’s engaged in a new business venture that hasn’t quite come to fruition. For some reason, his aura leaves a deeply troubling impression. This is a man in search of a solution. Perhaps even desperately.

Sophie, on the other hand, has school coming up right after the holiday and is of an age where she feels like hanging with the bigger kids. Occasionally, we get glimpses of Sophie as an adult and so we know that this is all being reconstructed from memories, videos and photographs. The two enjoy spending time together. They look after each other – putting on the aftersun of the title in a neat metaphor of their relationship. They are genuinely interested, amused and entertained by one another. Calum is protective (he teaches Sophie self-defence moves), but he’s also aware that she’s going to have relationships and will soon be a woman.

Wells’ debut is a frankly astonishing work which will leave a lasting impression. She frames shots perfectly and her use of the nineties setting – the pay-phones and DV recorder – are unobtrusive but folded into the texture of the film. The heat shimmers and the nights are dark and hot, but even in the brightest moments of the day, Calum’s face is in shadow. He struggles to keep his battle in the dark, hiding from Sophie his despair and hiding it from the audience as well. We get a sense of unease, disquiet, heightening to possible danger but everything is offscreen and inferred and we are left – like adult Sophie – approaching memory as if it were evidence, silhouettes as if they are crime scenes.

The performances are extraordinary, managing to capture a naturalism which is utterly convincing. It’s difficult to think of a father/daughter relationship portrayed so touchingly and apparently allergic to cliche. There is real chemistry and affection between the two leads. Mescal further confirms his growing reputation and Corio manages to be exceptionally precocious while at the same time exuding vulnerability.

The music morphs the ’90s disco favorites into something like a chorus. An extraordinary scene of son and daughter dancing to Under Pressure by Queen and David Bowie becomes something totally different as the instruments are mixed down, leaving the bare vocal tracks. It is an aural reminder that we are not all listening to the same song.
