Best Characters from Netflix’s Marvel Series

The Netflix Marvel universe may no longer come from Netflix, but it features characters audiences have come to know and love in the world of the Defenders.  Now that these shows have a home on Disney+, it means that fans can fall in love all over again.

These characters excite fans enough to have them wishing they could have had more of them in their lives and want them to have their own shows. So, meet the best characters from Netflix’s Marvel series.

Ward Meachum

A sad, rich boy who seemed like a character we’d hate, Ward Meachum quickly became a favorite part of the Iron Fist series. Played by Tom Pelphrey, the character had a whirlwind of a ride on Iron Fist and was set up to have quite the future working with Danny Rand.

He’s not perfect, he makes mistakes all the time, but he tries, and even in these attempts, he messes up again. Fans love to root for him even though he’s lived a life of privilege, and having him come back to the world of Marvel in some way would be a great addition to the MCU and also great for fans. Because who doesn’t love the idea of more Ward Meachum?

Foggy Nelson

Daredevil Elden Henson, Charlie Cox

Matt Murdock’s best friend and business partner in the beginning was none other than Franklin Pierce “Foggy” Nelson. Foggy tries to do his job despite everything that Matt gets himself into, and while their relationship has its ups and downs, they work together to try and make New York a better place. Foggy sometimes loses faith in his friend or thinks that Matt has died, but still, the two protect each other. Foggy deserves his time, or he, at least, deserves his time back in the world of Marvel series, especially since Matt will return to the MCU.

Dinah Madani

The Punisher Michael Nathanson, Amber Rose Revah

The Punisher explored different kinds of jobs and characters within the same world. In some regards, the show got to play a bit with genre. Dinah Madani stands out as a character because she was one of the only people in season 1 to know that Frank Castle was alive. And then, in season 2, she was the only one who seemed to care enough to help him. Madani having her own spin-off doing homeland security work and checking in with Frank or even just a show about her being, seemingly, the only officer who knew what she was doing would be fun.

Killgrave

Jessica Jones David Tennant

Killgrave died in spectacular fashion, but a show exploring his origin a bit more and looking into what made Killgrave into the Purple Man would offer a terrifying look into David Tennant’s character. He did so much damage not only to Jessica Jones but to other women. He doesn’t need a full-blown show all his own, but maybe just some look into his past in the future?

Claire Temple

The Defenders Rosario Dawson, Mike Colter

Clair appeared in most of the Netflix MCU shows in her position as the Night Nurse. Starting by working with Matt Murdock, she became associated with the Defenders and acted as their main source of medical attention. While the MCU did have Helen Cho for a while and technically has Rachel McAdams as Christine Palmer, Marvel still has few characters to help take care of our heroes when they get hurt.

Having someone like Claire Temple join the overarching Marvel Cinematic Universe would work because they always need a doctor.

Trish Walker

Jessica Jones

Trish Walker’s storyline took up plenty of screentime in Jessica Jones, and yet it feels like she has so many more untold adventures. Trish could show up in plenty of stories that would make sense without being directly connected to Jessica. Hellcat is a fun character, and it would feel weird not to have her come into the MCU in some way, shape, or form.

Colleen Wing

Iron Fist Jessica Henwick

Now, the end of Iron Fist set up with a great storyline for Colleen, and cancellation prevented audiences from seeing it. Actress Jessica Henwick brought her to life in a way that let audiences into her world with open arms. While people have their issues with Iron Fist, one thing the show did get right is Colleen, and she deserves to have a chance to shine again, especially now that she has the power of the Iron Fist on her side.

Karen Page

Daredevil Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll

In the world of Matt Murdock and, by extension, Frank Castle, Karen Page plays an important role. One of Matt’s first cases turned brief love interest, and then close friend Karen played an interesting part throughout the entire run of Daredevil and then The Punisher, but she also deserved to have more of her storyline explored. Karen Page tries to figure out her own life through the process of the series, and she changes as she navigates the world, thanks to Matt and Foggy.

Erik Gelden

Jessica Jones Benjamin Walker, Krysten Ritter

Ben Walker joined season 3 of Jessica Jones as Erik Gelden, a fellow enhanced being who could tell when someone wasn’t a good person, but he didn’t exactly know what to do with his power. Teaming up with Jessica helps him turn from blackmailing people to trying to use his power to stop things from happening, and while the only times that Erik can truly live headache-free is when he’s either drunk or pleasing someone, it leads to an interesting dynamic between himself and Jessica. Bringing Erik back somehow would add a fun energy for the larger MCU to try and tackle.

Misty Knight

Luke Cage Simone Missick

Misty Knight doesn’t put up with liars or people trying to use her, and in Luke Cage, we see her willingness to fight against everyone to keep Harlem safe.  Watching as she trained with Colleen to still be able to fight? A show about Misty and Colleen out on adventures together has plenty of promise. Plus, who doesn’t love watching as Misty Knight solves cases with ease?

Cornell Beltram Stokes, Cottonmouth

Luke Cage Mahershala Ali

When Cornell Stokes, or Cottonmouth, made his first appearance in Luke Cage, everyone knew no one could ignore him. Cold, calculating, and chillingly notorious, he stands out as one of the best villains in all of the Netflix Marvel series. And that says something.

As a mob boss and the owner of Harlem’s Paradise, he believes true power comes from money and violence and deals with both aplenty. His dealings with Luke Cage show him ruthless and premediating. Every move he makes, every word he speaks makes him as terrible as he is irresistible. So, he would definitely make a great addition to the larger MCU.

Madame Gao

Madame Gao is an original character created solely for Netflix’s mini-Marvel universe. That said, she does resemble Crane Mother from the Immortal Iron Fist quite a bit. Over the years, Madame Gao has clashed with various defenders, from Daredevil to Iron Fist.

Madame Gao never strays from her ultimate focus–gaining immortality–even when things get dire. Manipulative and ruthless, she has no problem bending her subordinates to her will. She plays with the trope of the elder mystic wise woman whenever it suits her. She can go so far as to pretend to be dumb and feeble in order to achieve her goals. A deep air of mystery surrounds her, and she takes it further by often speaking in riddles. Though she meets an inglorious end…she could always return.
