One More Obsessive Antisemite ‘On Leave’ From California Classroom

Henry Bens is an obsessive antisemite and high school teacher who has been spreading his venom in the classroom for years. His behavior has long been complained about, by students, and their parents, but for reasons that need to be investigated, it was not until this year that the school administration decided to take him out of the classroom. He has been made to take a “leave of absence.” Presumably that will give the school administration time to collect all the evidence needed to put the Nazi-loving Mr. Bens out of a job.

More on Henry Bens and his antisemitic monologues and heil-hitlering can be found here: “California School District Pulls Teacher Who Taught Antisemitic Conspiracies Out of Classroom,” by Dion J. Pierre, Algemeiner, February 23, 2023:

A California high school teacher who taught his class antisemitic conspiracies has been placed on leave of absence, the Hayward Unified School District announced on Thursday. [Feb. 23]

As first reported by The Jewish News of Northern California, during a unit on Elie Wiesel’s memoir, titled NightHayward High School teacher Henry Bens assigned as class reading “The Hidden Tyranny,” an antisemitic pamphlet authored by a Holocaust denier — Benjamin Freedman — that accuses the Jewish community of conspiring to subvert US power, control the media, and dominate the world politics. Bens, multiple students have alleged, also pantomimed the Nazi salute during lessons.

Here we are yet again in Protocols-of-the-Elders territory, in that twilight world of lunatics, in this particular case someone named Benjamin Freedman peddling a conspiracy theory about an all-powerful Jewish community determined to undermine America, control the media, and dominate the world, the only difference being that in The Hidden Tyranny the Jews are “still conspiring” to win this Trifecta of Evil, whereas in The Protocols they already control the world (though not, it should always be pointed out, those who wrote and published The Protocols). Bens wanted to warn his students about the Jewish conspiracy underway, so that they might be able to resist. Henry Bens also has a thing about Nazis; he enjoyed heil-hitlering in the classroom as he conducted his lessons. I can see him now — can’t you? his arm suddenly shooting up involuntarily in a Hitler salute, a veritable Dr. Strangelove of Hayward High.

Hayward Unified School District does not condone or tolerate any type of hateful or biased rhetoric, including antisemitism,” district spokesperson Lauren McDermott told The Algemeiner on Thursday [Feb. 23]. “We take these allegations very seriously, and the teacher alleged to have made such statements and used inappropriate materials is currently on a leave of absence.”

Now what? If Henry Bens were to feign remorse, in the manner of Kyrie Irving or Ilhan Omar, would anyone believe him? Surely those in charge of the Hayward School District must be gathering the evidence – there seems to be no dearth of it – showing that Bens was not only a deep-dyed antisemite and an admirer of Hitler, but that he tried to indoctrinate his students with the same noxious beliefs. Isn’t that enough to turn his “leave of absence” into a permanent dismissal?

Students told Jewish News earlier this month that Bens repeatedly said everything they knew was a lie and that he would “remove the blindfold.” His behavior was first reported in December, but other students said it has persisted for several years. Despite numerous complaints to the administration and direct pleas at school board meetings, he remained in the classroom.

It’s not just Henry Bens who needs to be investigated, but the higher-ups in the school administration and school board who must have heard about his behavior over several years from the children and their parents who complained, and pled, and demanded that something be done about the loathsome Henry Bens. Yet he was apparently never reprimanded, not told to change his ways, not threatened with discharge, and, of course, not discharged. Those higher-ups who knew about Henry Bens should not ‘scape rhetorical whipping; they, too, need to be investigated for having ignored all the complaints about him, and if found guilty of such a gross dereliction of duty, be discharged as well.

If I was alive during Hitler’s time, I would have an interview with him.” Bens can be heard saying, according to Jewish News, in an audio recording a student took in secret. “I would let him share his views.”

Yes, why not? Hitler clearly was someone with a good deal to tell the world – and Henry Bens would have found it fascinating to hear Hitler’s side of the story. Der Führer, after all was quite a fellow, wasn’t he? A world-historical figure who had such an effect on so many people and countries. Why wouldn’t Henry Bens want to interview, if he were lucky enough to have the chance, someone as important and in his view – let’s not deny it – as impressive as Adolf Hitler?

An Algemeiner analysis of Bens’ Facebook account revealed that he is an admirer of the Black Israelites and the film “Hebrew to Negroes”, an antisemitic documentary that became widely known after NBA player Kyrie Irving tweeted about it in October. In November, Bens posted about the controversy prompted by Irving’s tweet, saying, “Oh, is this the link Kyrie posted? Good looking bruh!” Later, he described as “slave master mentality” efforts to persuade Kyrie Irving to apologize for promoting Hebrews to Negroes, which, in addition to denying the Holocaust, accuses the Jewish community of stealing their religion from Blacks.

According to Bens, why should Kyrie Irving apologize for telling the truth? Didn’t the Jews steal their religion from the blacks? And then those diabolical Jews made black people – all except for the Black Israelites — forget their original religion. Kyrie Irving was right the first time. Good looking bruh!! But then there was all that pressure by Jews, demanding Irving apologize, treating him as a slave who should obey his masters’ orders. The Jews, always the Jews. And Irving in the end gave in, saying he was “deeply” sorry if he caused anyone hurt, and denied that he was antisemitic. I understand. He wanted to get back on the court. He’d say whatever he had to. But Henry Bens knows, just as Kyrie Irving does, that “Hebrews to Negroes” tells the truth. He is sure it tells the truth, too, about that Holocaust business. People don’t know about those whom the likes of Bens and Irving regard as meticulous researchers, such as the Englishman David Irving and the Frenchman Robert Faurrisson, who have concluded that there never was a Holocaust. It was all a huge hoax, concocted by Jews, to win them sympathy even as they plotted their takeover of the world.

The Hayward Unified School District is in contact with the Anti-Defamation League to discuss a potential partnership, Teresa Drenick, the deputy regional director of the ADL’s Los Angeles office, told The Algemeiner during an interview.

Our focus continues to be on getting the Hidden Tyranny [pamphlet] pulled from the school,” Drenick said. “It is equally important that the kids who have been exposed to it be properly educated about the history it purports to cover and that the antisemitism they have absorbed be countered.”

Surely Teresa Drenick of the ADL should be focusing on more than just getting the antisemitic pamphlet Henry Bens liked to read to his students – Hidden Tyranny — about how Jews undermine America, take over the media, and plot to “dominate the world,” removed from the school. What needs to happen, as Drenick says, beyond getting rid of that pamphlet, is to properly educate those students who, over the past few years, were exposed to his appalling views. They need to be taught about the long history of antisemitism, of course, and about the Holocaust, but also about the outward and visible signs of the crackbrained antisemite, of which their teacher Henry Bens serves as a perfect example.

If he were allowed to continue as a teacher, Bens will still be squirting his antisemitic venom in his classroom. He has to go. And the parents of students who were taught by Henry Bens ought to receive an explanation from the School Board. How was it that for several years Henry Bens got away with such loathsome behavior, even though he had been complained about, yet he apparently suffered no consequences during all that time? A full court press, please, with lots of media attention, so that those higher-ups who in the past protected Henry Bens will now follow him out the door.
