Building ‘Artificial Cells’ for Synthetic Biology, Drug Delivery, and Antibiotic Discovery applications
Profile
Applications are invited for the prospective Ph.D. candidates at Dr. Harsha Bajaj’s Lab at CSIR-National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The project addresses mimicking cell characteristics, including mimicking membranes and genetic information, to build a ‘Synthetic Cell’ for applications in understanding the membrane transport mechanism with implications in antibiotic resistance. Developing a dynamic ‘Synthetic cell’ that responds to environmental cues will also have significant applications in Drug delivery.
A post-graduate in Life Sciences or related areas with a valid fellowship is required. Selected candidates will work in an interdisciplinary environment of biology and chemistry with cutting-edge technology.
Qualifications
- The candidate must have good academic track record with first-class M.Tech or M.Sc. in Life Science related areas.
- Candidates qualified with national-level Junior Research Fellowship such as CSIR/UGC/DBT/ICMR or equivalent will be preferred.
Experience
Desirable:- Have at least 6 months experience in wet-lab.
