Champions Kenya defeated Ethiopia to qualify to play into the semifinals of the ongoing International Handball Federation (IHF) Trophy Africa Zone 5 Championship at the Nyayo National Stadium.
The Kenya under 18 boys team will play Rwanda in the semi-finals following their 46-37 victory against Ethiopia in the last pool B match to top the pool.
Coached Gerald Juma, the unbeaten Kenya won 57-9 against Djibouti and 49-15 over South Sudan and will face Rwanda who finished second in pool A.
Rwanda beat Uganda 49-39 while Djibouti dismissed South Sudan 34-25.
In other semifinal, Burundi, who topped Pool A will play Ethiopia that finished second in pool B.
At Ulinzi Sports Complex, in Lang’ata it was a bad day for the defending chamspions kenya in the under 20 side who were eliminated from the championships.
