Canelo Alvarez vs. Caleb Plant live fight updates, results, highlights from 2021 boxing card



LAS VEGAS — Top-ranked pound-for-pound boxer Saul “Canelo” Alvarez will face Caleb Plant for the undisputed super middleweight championship Saturday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. 

Alvarez (56-1-2, 38 KOs), who is the WBA (Super), WBC, WBO and The Ring champion, last fought in May, a referee technical decision victory over Billy Joe Saunders to win the WBO title. Alvarez is on a seven-fight win streak dating to his majority decision win over Gennady Golovkin in September 2018 to win the WBA, WBC and The Ring middleweight titles. 

Plant (21-0, 12 KOs) is making his fifth defense of his IBF title, which he won in January 2019 with a unanimous decision win over Jose Uzcategui. He and Alvarez have already had prefight drama, with Alvarez throwing a punch at him in a press conference and both fighters calling the bout “personal.”
